How Leaf makes money

Leaf is freemium, stated plainly. The core app is free, with no account required and no paywalls on the essentials. A small optional subscription and a one-time challenge pass fund the development. We do not sell your reading data, we do not use it to train anything, and your library is always yours to export.

The Challenge Pass is deliberately non-renewing. It expires on its own and we earn nothing from anyone who forgets to cancel. If a pass holder later moves to Leaf Pro, what they paid for the pass counts toward their first year.

What we will never do

  • Sell or share your reading data, or use it to train AI models.
  • Gate data portability. Export stays free, always.
  • Monetize through social feeds, followers, or fear of missing out.
  • Move an existing free feature behind the paywall.

Start free. Decide later.

Download Leaf, track your reading, and see whether it earns a place in your day. Nothing asks for a card.

Pricing questions

Is Leaf free?

The reading tracker is free and always will be: logging, streaks, milestones, daily goals, finish-by dates, stats, your library, and import and export. There is no trial clock on any of it and no account required. Leaf Pro and the Challenge Pass are optional additions.

Does the Challenge Pass renew?

No. The Challenge Pass is a one-time payment covering three months. It ends on its own and there is nothing to cancel. If you want another challenge afterwards you buy another pass, or move to Leaf Pro for unlimited challenges.

Do I need the pass if I already have Leaf Pro?

No. Leaf Pro includes challenge access, so existing and new Pro members can run challenges at no extra cost and never see a challenge paywall.

Can I buy on the website?

No. Both the Challenge Pass and Leaf Pro are bought inside the app through the App Store or Google Play, which is also how refunds and receipts are handled. There is no account to create on this site.

What happens to my data if I stop paying?

It stays yours. Your books, progress, streaks, and history remain on your device, and CSV export is free on every plan. Leaf never locks your reading behind a lapsed subscription.

Is there a free trial of Leaf Pro?

Leaf Pro offers a free trial on the annual plan, handled by the App Store or Google Play, and you can cancel during it without being charged. The Challenge Pass has no trial because it is a one-time purchase rather than a subscription.
