Reading Streak Tracker
A reading streak that survives real life
Log a few pages a day and Leaf counts every day you read in a row. Miss a day and you can backdate it. Finish a book and your streak pauses until the next one. Your reading habit bends with real life instead of breaking.
A daily reading habit in three steps
- Read
Read a little, every day
Open any book in your library and read as much or as little as you like. One page counts. The goal is showing up, not hitting a number.
- Log
Log your pages in seconds
Tell Leaf where you stopped and the day is counted. Your streak ticks up by one, and your current run sits right on the home screen.
- Keep
Keep it, even on hard days
Forgot to log yesterday? Backdate it. Between books? Your streak pauses. Life happens, and your habit is built to survive it.
See a reading day in action
Logging your pages takes a few seconds, and that is all it takes to keep your streak alive. Open the book, enter where you stopped, and today is counted.
A finish date, and a plan to reach it
Set the day you want to finish and Leaf lays out the pages ahead, then tracks your real reading against that plan. Get ahead or fall behind and it recalculates quietly, so you always know whether you are on pace.
Everything that keeps the habit going
Your streak, front and center
Your current streak lives on the home screen, so the first thing you see when you open Leaf is the run you are protecting.
A reminder, not a nag
Set one gentle daily reminder at a time that suits you. It is a nudge to read, never a warning or a guilt trip.
A daily page target
Give your streak direction with a daily page goal. Leaf recalculates what you need today whenever you get ahead or fall behind.
Milestones that never reset
Streaks can reset, but milestones do not. Your first finished book, your first 100 pages, your longest run: they stay yours.
Any book, any page counts
Read one book or five. Progress on any of them keeps the chain going, and a single page is enough to count the day.
A record of every session
Every day you log becomes part of your reading history, a quiet record of consistency that is motivating to look back on.
Built to be forgiving
Most streak apps punish one missed day by wiping out months of progress. Leaf is built on the opposite belief: a habit should survive a busy week, a sick day, or a long trip. Three things keep your streak honest without making it fragile.
Backdate a missed day
Forgot to log yesterday? Select the date and add your pages today. Your streak stays intact, because you did read.
Pause between books
Finish your last active book and your streak freezes automatically. Choose your next read without a clock running out.
One page still counts
There is no minimum. On the days when one page is all you have, logging it keeps the habit alive.
Identity, not willpower
Willpower runs out. Identity does not. A reading streak works because it slowly changes how you see yourself: not someone trying to read more, but simply a reader. Once that shift happens, you stop deciding whether to read tonight. You just read. Every day you add to the streak, you reinforce who you are becoming.
Frequently asked questions
How does a reading streak work in Leaf?
Every day you log reading in Leaf, your streak increases by one. If you log reading on two consecutive days, your streak is two. The streak resets if you skip a day without backdating. The current streak is shown on the Leaf home screen.
Can I recover my reading streak if I miss a day?
Yes. Leaf lets you backdate your reading sessions. Open the app, select yesterday's date from the log progress screen, and enter your pages. Your streak will be restored. You can only backdate one day (yesterday), not multiple days.
Does Leaf track reading streaks like Duolingo?
Yes, in spirit. Leaf tracks daily reading streaks the same way Duolingo tracks daily language practice. Each day you complete your session, your streak grows. Unlike Duolingo, Leaf doesn't have streak freezes you buy with in-app currency. Instead, it lets you backdate a missed day to keep things accurate.
How do I set a daily reading target in Leaf?
When you add a book and start reading it, Leaf asks for your goal: either a daily page count (flexible mode) or a finish-by date (deadline mode). In deadline mode, Leaf calculates the daily pages you need automatically based on how many pages remain and when you want to finish.
Does the streak reset if I miss two days?
If you miss more than one day, your streak will reset because Leaf only allows backdating for the previous day. However, your reading history and total pages logged are never deleted. You can always start a new streak. Consistency over time matters more than any single streak number.
Does my streak break if I finish a book and haven't started the next one?
No. When you finish your last active book, Leaf automatically pauses your streak. The count is frozen and won't break while you're between books. As soon as you start a new book and log reading, your streak picks up from where it left off.
Does Leaf remind you to read?
Yes. You can set a daily reading reminder at a time that works for you. The notification is a simple prompt, not a warning or guilt trip. It appears once a day at the time you choose, and you can adjust or disable it anytime in your settings.
